As professional wrestling continues to grow in popularity around the world, there are more opportunities than ever for young wrestlers to make a name for themselves and become global superstars.

When you look at the rosters of WWE, AEW, NJPW, IMPACT, and everywhere in between, competitors in their 20s are getting a lot of attention right now.

ESPN took the opportunity to rank the top 30 wrestlers under 30 in their current rankings, with AEW World Champion MJF at the top of the list.

After Maxwell Jacob Friedman, WWE World Champion Rhea Ripley is number two. Espns 30 top wrestlers under 30 list.

The professional wrestling industry is on the rise. WWE is filling arenas at breakneck speed and achieving impressive ratings. AEW will host a potentially record crowd at London’s Wembley Stadium later this month. The effect is better than it has been for years.

Abroad, Mexico’s New Japan pro-wrestling stars and CMLL have recovered from tough pandemic battles. Stardom is the fastest-growing campaign in the world. Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, commonly referred to as AAA for short, drew just over 15,000 people to its TripleMania Tijuana show last month.

At ESPN, we’ve compiled lists of the top 25 fighters under 25 in both MMA and boxing. So why not a similar list for professional wrestling? In martial arts, athletes tend to achieve peak performance at younger ages. But in wrestling it’s usually in the 30s. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin was 33 when his popularity exploded in 1998, Hulk Hogan was 31 at WrestleMania 1, and Roman Reigns is currently doing his best work at 38.

Below is our list of the top 30 professional wrestlers under 30. The rankings were based on performance rather than future potential, which is much more subjective. Criteria included tensile strength; Popularity; Competence; position in the squad; and achievements, including championships and tournament wins. About a dozen different campaigns are represented in one way or another in several countries.

  1. MJF

Promotion: AEW
Age: 27

“Generational talent” is not just a nickname or slogan. Long Island’s Maxwell Jacob Friedman is one of the best twenty-something wrestlers the company has seen in a long time. He’s already the centerpiece of AEW, winning the promotion’s World Championship last November. ESPN named him the 2022 Promo Artist of the Year and honestly, he was just as good between the ropes. MJF’s Ironman match with Bryan Danielson at AEW Revolution in March was an instant classic, and his four-way match with Jack Perry, Darby Allin, and Sammy Guevara was also outstanding. It’s scary to think that he hasn’t reached his prime yet.

  1. Rhea Ripley

At her young age, Ripley already has a Hall of Fame resume, whether it’s her rise to fame in the indie scene, NXT UK, NXT, or the WWE mainstay. Ripley has won a title everywhere she has gone and is the only wrestler, male or female, who can say she has won gold in NXT UK, NXT, and WWE. A quarter of the way through Judgment Day, Ripley’s presence and attitude have not only strengthened the faction but also given Dominik Mysterio extra weight. The question is when, not if, “Mami” will be considered one of the greatest artists to ever enter the squared circle.

  1. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him as the face of the entire industry in a few years. Theory, the WWE United States Champion, has some things to sort out. After all, he has just turned 26.

But he’s a five-tool player and can do pretty much everything a wrestler needs to be good. He has the looks, charisma, athleticism, and presence to be a top guy for a long time. Just wait until he arranges everything.

  1. El Hijo del Vikingo
    Promotion: AAA/AEW/ROH/GCW
    Age: 26

As a second-generation star, Vikingo has already made a name for himself as the next successor to Lucha Libre in AAA. However, his match against Kenny Omega on March 22 at AEW Dynamite caused an instant furor on social media. Floating and not giving up, Vikingo tried to break gravity several times, via Springboard 630 Splash, Phoenix Splash, and more. At his young age, he is already the third-longest-reigning AAA Mega Champion. More and more American viewers will become aware of Vikingo’s greatness, making him a hard-to-miss act.
